The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce the continuation of the Mick & Susie McMurry Memorial Scholarship, a tuition assistance fund honoring the lasting impact of Mick and Susie McMurry on Wyoming and the Troopers organization.

Mick McMurry, a University of Wyoming graduate and a key figure in the energy industry, played an instrumental role in developing the Jonah field. Alongside his wife Susie, an educator and passionate advocate for philanthropy, the McMurrys devoted their lives to supporting organizations across the state. In the early 2000s, they established the McMurry Foundation, which has significantly contributed to numerous causes, including the Troopers. Their unwavering support over the past two decades has left an enduring legacy of generosity and dedication.

How to Donate

From February 11 through the end of the month, we are calling on all supporters to contribute to this vital scholarship fund. Your donation during this period will have an immediate impact, ensuring that talented young musicians have the opportunity to participate in the Troopers regardless of financial barriers.

Donations to the Mick & Susie McMurry Memorial Scholarship are tax-deductible and will directly support members in need of tuition assistance. The organization's administration, in partnership with the Troopers Board, will oversee the fund's distribution to ensure it benefits those who need it most.

By donating, you are not only honoring the McMurrys' legacy but also helping a young musician continue their journey with the Troopers. Join us in making a difference—support the scholarship today and help keep the Troopers tradition strong for generations to come.

"Your support in maintaining this scholarship program will continue to make the dreams of young people a reality. We all know that the costs of entry into this activity are challenging, especially in today’s economy. Your assistance will ensure that talented young people are not left behind." - Michael Gough, Executive Director of the Troopers

How to Apply for the Scholarship

Eligibility for the Mick & Susie McMurry Memorial Scholarship is limited to currently contracted members of the Troopers "A" Corps. The Troopers administration, in collaboration with Lauren Ryals from the Troopers Board of Directors, will assess applications and determine the level of assistance awarded to qualified members.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must first submit their initial contract deposit of $500. Additionally, all recipients are required to write and submit a thank-you letter to the scholarship committee before funds are applied to their tuition accounts. In cases where a member forfeits their membership after receiving the scholarship, the funds will be returned to the scholarship pool to support other deserving individuals.
